The word is out on Azadi:Freedom and the media coverage has been excellent. Here’s a recent piece on the flick form the ESPN Freeskiing website.
My only regret about going back to school was missing out on the chance to make another ski movie with my buddy Joel Jah Raven and the rest of Kootenay lads. Joel is currently editing the follow-up to “Extra.Ordinary” and it’s awesome to see how much he’s raising the bar. This year the skiing got better. The cinematography got better. And the editing went through the roof. When Joel gets this puppy all wrapped up its going to be one wildly fun and groovy ride.
Check out the teaser. Take your pills now if you prone to high pressure. This one’s intense.
I’ve been working on the post production and editing of Azadi:Freedom with my good buddy and director of the film Anthony Bonello. It’s been a hectic summer trying to get the film finished for several film festival submission deadlines and it came right down to the wire. We are stoked to say however, it’s done. The official trailer was released today so please take a look here

THE FILM
b4apres Media’s debut film, “AZADI: Freedom”, is a cultural documentary as seen through the eyes of skiers. Set in the disputed region of Kashmir, an area deemed the “most dangerous place in the world” during the violent militant insurgency of the 1990’s. What director Anthony Bonello and crew find in 2010 is an aesthetically beautiful landscape and a people eager for Kashmir to once again become “a paradise on earth.” Whilst exploring the mountains surrounding the world’s highest skiable gondola, the crew meet vibrant local characters, ski picturesque forests and thin alpine air. Through beautiful cinematography, interviews, animation and quiet pauses, this backcountry ski film will give you with a greater understanding of one of the most negatively publicized regions on the planet… and leave you yearning for winter.
Featuring: Forrest Coots, Colin Puskas, Chad Sayers, Peter Velisek.

I’m Happy to announce Home – re-edit picked-up a little hardware last week at the Golden Film Festival. I Wish I had been out there to participate in the festivities with all the Goldenites! Sounds like it was a great time! Thanks for checking out the film if you were at the show. If you missed it, well why not watch it right now! Right here!
The Lake Louise Big Mountain Challenge is just around the corner. The Juniors get things started March 27th and 28th. I was checking out some of last years highlights and thought they were pretty sick and worth a second look. So get your blood pressure cranked up a few notches ahead of the big dance this weekend. This video will do the trick 2009 Junior BMC – day one spills and thrills.
I just got back from a rip out West for the Fernie Junior Freeski. A great event which proves Little Grommets have taken over the sport of skiing! It was an awesome, mind boggling two day event which sees kids as young as seven charging mock turkey down terrain that intimidates even the best riders.

Last season I did some work with Ride Guide TV. In early December I field produced and shot a piece at Sol Mountain Lodge in the Monashee Mountains near Revelstoke, BC.
Mark Butcher, Joel Whalen and Brother Thommy were along for trip, which was an awesome way to kick off the season.
Sol Mountain is probably the most luxurious backcountry ski touring hut you’ll find out there. The facilities are more high end Heli op than they are ski touring hut and it was a pleasure to spend a week there with owner Aaron Cooperman and his family.
In March 2009 I was up in Clearwater, BC with Richie Small and Jeremie Duchaine on another backcountry touring assignment. We were checking out one of Wells Gray Adventures ski touring chalets and had owner and backcountry Guru Ian Eakins to show us around. It was another great experience and the shooting turned out great.
Ride Guide came down to Fernie to shoot a couple of segments in late March and I was on board as a P.A. for the Fernie Alpine Resort shoot. Good times on our home mountain. Brother Thommy Jeremy Duchaine and Izzy Lynch prodived the talent on this one and Gideon Dante from Montreal was producing. I had my camera out as well and for hill riding, I think the segment turned out pretty good.
